VASA (Adhatoda vasica)


Part Used :

 Root, Leaf, Flower

Properties :

 Haemoptysis,Anti-tubercular,Bronchial sedative

Specific Property :

 Kaph-Pitta-Samak

Dosage :

 Expressed juice of leaf : 1-2 tola
Powder of root bark : 2-5 ratti
Decoction of root : 4-8 tola

Uses :

 »As Rasayana - Oil cooked with the decoction of vasa root should be taken. It promotes intellecfand life span.
» In acute and chronic laryngitis -Decoction of Vasa,Kantakari Nagarmotha & Sunthi should be used.
» In Cough & Asthma - Decoction of Vasa, Draksya, Haritaki mixed with honey & sugar.
» In P.T.B. - Used Vasa ghrit,if haemoptysis.
» In Asthma - The dry leaves of Vasa and Dhatura are smoked in cigarette form.
» In lntrisic haemorrhage - Expressed juice of Vasa with honey should be taken.


VIDANG(Embelica ribes)


Part Used :

 Fruit

Properties :

 Anodyne,Canninative,Used in vatiated kaph,Anthelmintic,Anti-rheumatic,Laxative

Specific Property :

 Anthelmintic

Dosage :

 Powder : 3-5gms.

Uses :

 » Best remedy for worms - After giving vidang powder with honey or curd then any laxative like castor oil should be given.It is more effective over tape-worms.
» As a Rasayan - Powder of Vidang mixed with Yastimadhu and honey should be taken with cold water.
» In peadiatric disorders - Vidang powder & Anantamul powder boiled in milk should be given.
» Powder of Vidang, Triphala & Pippali taken with honey destroys Kusth.
» Very useful in emaciation & general debility of children.
» In Headache & Sinusitis - Nasal drops of oil cooked with vidang powder is useful.

VIBHITAKI(Terminalia bellerica)


Part Used :

 Fruit

Properties :

 Laxative,Bronchial sedative

Specific Property :

 Tridoshar (Specially Kaphhar)

Dosage :

 Powder : 3 - 6 gms

Uses :

 »In Cough & Dysponea - Vibhitaki powder 10gms. with honey taken after meals alleviates cough and dysponea.
» Burnt furit of Vibhitaki chewing on mouth is much effective in Coryza, Cough, Asthma & Hoarseness of voice.
» In Oedema - paste of vibhitaki should be taken with rice - water.
» On Habitual constipation - The unripe ftuit of Vibhitaki is used.
» In Incision wound - Use of its powder for haemostatics action.
» In Diarrhoea & Dysentery - Dry fruit is useful.
