SHANKHPUSHPI (Convolvulus pluricaulis)


Part Used :

 Whole plant

Properties :

 Laxative,Aphrodisiac,Nervine tonic,Rejuvenator,Health promoting,Complexion promotor

Specific Property :

 Intellect promoting

Dosage :

 Expressed juice : 2-4 Tola
Powder : 3-6 Masha,

Uses :

 »Shankhpushpi is a rasayana specially promoting intellect.
» In Insanity - Fresh expressed juice of Shankhpushpi is given in a dosage 2-4 tola.
» In Insomonia & Delirium - Powder of Shankhpushpi should be given with cumin & milk.
» In Chronic cough & Asthma - Smoking of Shankhpushpi leaves is useful.
» In Haematemesis - Expressed juice of Shankhpushpi is useful.
» Useful in Pyuria,Dysuria & Seminal dibility.

SATAVARI(Asparagus racemosus)


Part Used :

 Tuberous root

Properties :

 Rejuvinator,Intellect promoting, Appetiser,Ophthalmic,Anti-diarrhoel

Specific Property :

 Vata Pitta samak

Dosage :

 Juice : 1O-20ml.
Powder : 3 - 5 gms.

Uses :

 »As Rasayana - Those who take ghee cooked with paste and decoction of satavari and added with sugar do not fall prey to disease.
» In Intrinsic haemorrhage - Milk processed with satavari checks haemorrhage.
» In Night-blindness - Tender leaves of Satayari cooked in ghee should be taken.
» In Disurea -Powder of satavari should be taken with cold water.
» As Galactogogue - Satavari powder taken with milk is increases the flow of brest milk.
» In Diarrhoea with blood -Paste of Satavari should be taken with milk keeping on milk diet.

SHARAPUNKHA(Tephrosia purpurea)


Part Used :

 Root, Alkali of the whole plant.

Properties :

 Antidote,Bronchial sedative,Anti-pyretic,Blood purifjer

Specific Property :

 Plihaghna

Dosage :

 Powder : 3 - 6gms
Alkali : 1 - 3 gms.
Expressed juice : 10-20 ml.

Uses :

 » In Hepato-spleenomegally - Root of Sarapunkha with Haritaki is useful.
» In Haemorrhoids - Sarapunkha root is usedwith watermilk (Takra).
»In Haemorrhagie disorders - Saiapunkha root is used with rice-water.
» In Cough - Inhalation of the smoke of Sarapunkha root is an excellent remedy for cough.
» In Abdominal pain -Its fresh root bark mixed with piper sholud be taken.
» In Scrofula, Filariasis, Oedema -Locally application of this root.
